The Low Down on Laylow’s Cocktail Classes

If anyone can remember through the mists of time what life was like in the early days just before the pandemic hit, they might remember one of the most hip places in the Asbury Park scene: the bar hidden in the subterranean depths of REYLA, called Laylow. Low lights, well balanced cocktails with menus stylishly presented on old CD cases provided a place to lounge with friends while becoming ever more giddy into the night.

All that may have come to a screaming halt in the early days of March, but thankfully, Laylow persisted during our locked down summer through their virtual cocktail classes, even though today there has been a slow and steady reopening for outdoor spaces. We weren’t the only ones excited to learn the secrets behind a perfectly crafted Laylow cocktail – classes draw upwards of 100 people per session over Zoom.

From the website where you can get the low down on Laylow’s cocktail events, the tone of irreverent fun is set: We encourage social dis-drinking.

“We encourage social dis-drinking.”

Dodge and Pipi are our master mixers for our sessions and one can choose from a growing menu of cocktail classes that includes subscriptions for a yearly or monthly membership, or you can join in once a week on Wednesdays at 7pm as you please for $10 a go.
